About the event

The fourth trimester (the first 3 months after birth), is a time of great change. When the baby arrives, quite often the focus is primarily on the caring for the baby, and not the mothers healing and well-being.

While many women are considered to have physically recovered from birth after six weeks, that doesn’t mean your body has completely healed and is ready to start getting back to "normal" activity and exercise before you were pregnant. After all, it took you nine months to grow your baby. You can expect it to take at least that long for your body to go back to “normal.”

During the fourth trimester, many women will experience pelvic pain, leakage, diastasis, discomfort during intercourse, weak core, hips, and back, and mood swings, and in many cases, if left unaddressed, these issues can carry for months or even years.

The best way to help your body heal and recover postpartum is to be informed and educated about "The Fourth Trimester". Not only for you the mama but for your little one as well. After all, a healthy and happy mama means a healthy and happy baby. 

The workshop will be led by Pelvic Floor Physio Therapist Pavla Skopalova from Mint Therapy, and a Certified Postnatal Fitness Specialist Chantelle Tuma, from Mothergood.

During our 75 minute workshop we will cover:

- The changes that happen physiologically inside a woman's body after birth

- How to promote healing at home

- What exercises and movements to avoid

- Different issues and dysfunctions can occur after birth and when to seek support

- How to safely lift, carry, and move with baby

- How to safely return to exercise postpartum

The workshop will be instructional, interactive, and inclusive. You will get a chance to practice some of the techniques we will cover, so come in comfortable clothes, and feel free to bring our baby along!
